With the 56th pick in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft, the Miami Marlins selected shortstop Carter Johnson out of Oxford High School in Alabama. Johnson, 18, was the 40th-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but winds up with the Marlins 16 picks past his projection. The shortstop has been up-and-down when it has come to pre-draft showcases but remains a mature hitter that can handle velocity. The biggest knock on the young shortstop is that he has struggled against offspeed pitches. Despite that, his body is still growing along with his power. He's committed to the University of Alabama, but the Marlins will work to get him under contract.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBallerRead More News
