Melvin Gordon Auditions One More Time
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will take the field on Sunday against the Chiefs, and he may be wearing the Chargers uniform for the last time. When the game ends, Gordon will officially be an unrestricted free agent, and he'll be ready to cash in on his next contract. Gordon was a little rusty from his holdout earlier this year, but he's gotten it together as the season has rolled on and had a stretch of four games where he averaged more than 4.6 YPC. Head coach Anthony Lynn's usage of Gordon has varied widely, from his nine-carry, two-touchdown performance last week to his 22-carry, 108-yard rip against the Raiders earlier this year, but Gordon has shown that he can still do a lot of damage out of the backfield. Unfortunately, owners shouldn't be terribly surprised if Gordon doesn't get too many carries this week since LA stands a good chance at falling behind early. Instead, Gordon will probably get a handful of passes to help boost his stats, and he may be able to bump in a touchdown to help finish with a respectable fantasy day.
