Max Scherzer 2019 Outlook: Dominance is Scherzer's Middle Name
6 years agoMax Scherzer was his dominant self yet again last season for the Washington Nationals, as he finished with 18 wins, a 2.53 ERA and 300 strikeouts. Yes, you read that correctly... He struck out 300 opposing batters! What is even more amazing is that Scherzer was unable to win his third-consecutive NL Cy Young Award, as Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets came away with the honors. Regardless of the award voting, Scherzer is arguably the most dominant pitcher in the entire MLB, and should find success yet again this year. Scherzer is ranked as the number one starting pitcher and the ninth overall player in fantasy baseball for the 2019 season, according to the RotoBaller Rankings. Obviously, hitting on your first-round draft pick is essential to success in redraft leagues, but Scherzer is just about as safe as they come. He has finished with a 3.15 ERA or lower in each season since 2012 and has had at least 250 strikeouts in each of the past five seasons. If you're at the tail end of the first round in your league, ending up with Scherzer would be an ideal start to your draft.
