Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray is taking shots and is reportedly progressing well in his recovery from hip surgery, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe. The netminder underwent bilateral hip surgery in October and was given a 6-8 month recovery timetable. He has spent the season on long-term injured reserve as Ilya Samsonov, Joseph Woll, and Martin Jones have shared duties between the pipes for the Maple Leafs in what has been a turbulent season in goal. Murray, 29, appeared in 26 games for the Maple Leafs last season, turning in a 3.01 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage alongside a 14-8-2 record. He is in the final season of a four-year, $25 million deal he signed with the Ottawa Senators on October 9, 2020.--Brenton Kemp
