2 months agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado takes a seat for Thursday's matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite 30 home runs, this season has been a major disappointment for Machado, who is hitting just .253/.332/.456 with 79 runs scored, 82 driven in, and a 5-for-8 record stealing bases. This is his second day off in the last eight and it would not be surprising if the Padres were to lighten his workload in the final week-plus with nothing to play for. Managers in shallower leagues should seriously consider taking a chance on the wire at this late point in the season, and if he's officially shut down at some point then he would of course be a drop everywhere.--Nate Green - RotoBaller
