Logan Gilbert Fires Quality Start with Eight Strikeouts
6 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (3-4) fired 6 2/3 innings and picked up a no-decision with eight strikeouts and no walks while allowing three runs in an 8-4 win against the Chicago White Sox. The Mariners gave Gilbert zero run support while he was in the game but bailed him out of the loss with a four-run eighth inning, followed by a walk-off grand slam by Cal Raleigh in the bottom of the ninth. Gilbert was cruising with no runs allowed and only two hits through the first five innings before the wheels fell off via a two-run home run in the sixth by Luis Robert Jr. and an RBI single in the seventh by Lenyn Sosa. Gilbert has been excellent this season with a 3.19 ERA and will look to continue his great 2024 with a divisional matchup versus the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Gilbert dominated the Rangers in his last matchup, allowing no runs in six innings back on April 23.
