Dallas Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel (illness) will not suit up on Friday evening when the Stars face the Winnipeg Jets. As a result, Brendan Smith will enter the starting lineup and likely play alongside Matt Dumba on the bottom defensive pairing. Over his previous four contests, Bichsel has not gotten on the scoresheet and logged 17 hits, one block, and four penalty minutes. Bichsel made his NHL debut earlier this season. Through his first 22 contests at the NHL level, the former 18th overall selection from the 2022 NHL draft has found the back of the net twice and added three helpers. He has logged an impressive 90 hits with 13 blocked shots. When he does return to the lineup, he will only have value in deeper formats that reward hits.--Andy Smith
