Kyle Rudolph 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Better Suited For Best Ball
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently signed tight end Kyle Rudolph as a depth piece to add to their roster. This is an ideal landing spot given that the current competition is rookie Cade Otton and 31-year-old veteran Cameron Brate, who profiles as more of a blocker than a receiver. The problem for the former Notre Dame product is that he's more likely to negatively impact the other two options than he is to establish himself as a fantasy-relevant option. The 33-year-old played in 16 games for the Giants last season but produced only 26 receptions for 257 yards and one touchdown. The departure of Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski creates 151 vacated targets, plus Chris Godwin has health concerns. Still, at minimum, Rudolph will slot in behind Mike Evans, Godwin, Russell Gage, Julio Jones, and Leonard Fournette. He will compete with Cameron Brate in training camp to be quarterback Tom Brady's top pass-catching tight end. Rudolph is currently ranked 52nd in Rotoballer's rankings while going undrafted in season-long formats. The only place drafting Rudolph would be beneficial is later in best ball draft, where the few weeks he catches a touchdown, he helps your team, particularly if it has a tight end premium setting.
