Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland stymied another opponent on Friday, holding the Giants to just one earned run over 6 2/3 innings. It was the fifth straight time Freeland’s gone into the seventh inning, and it was also his fifth straight quality start. The lone run came from the first home run Freeland’s allowed in a month, and his five strikeouts raised him to 32/9 K/BB ratio over the five-game, 34-inning stretch. His success seems to be coming from more liberal use of his fastball, so the question will be whether hitters adjust to that or not. For now, it looks like he’s got the formula figured out, and he should be a strong start while on such a run.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
