Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland has been sidelined with a groin strain since August 20, but he's been making slow and steady progress so he can come back this season. Freeland's healing has been slower than expected, but he told reporters that there haven't been any actual setbacks. He threw off the slope in Los Angeles before Monday's game with the Dodgers, and he was excited to get back on the mound so he can continue to fix what's broken this year. A year after he finished high in the Cy Young voting, Freeland has carried a 6.98 ERA and monstrous 1.59 WHIP. A large part of that is because he got lucky last season (2.85 ERA but 4.22 xFIP while stranding 82% of runners) and has gotten unlucky this year (5.04 xFIP while stranding just 61% of runners), but Freeland believes that if he can get just a couple more starts in live action before the season ends, he can right the ship for next year. From a fantasy perspective, his ~7.5 K/9 makes him a fairly unattractive horse in most formats.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
