Kurt Kitayama A Boom-Or-Bust Option At Muirfield
2 years agoIt's been a great, but inconsistent season for Kurt Kitayama in 2022-23. Picking up his first PGA Tour win, as well as his first top-five finish in a major championship have shown the potential for Kitayama. However, Kitayama has missed seven of 17 cuts this season, including five in his last 10 starts. If Kitayama sees the weekend, it's nearly a lock for a top-30 finish, as only one of his made cuts this season saw him finish outside the top-30. The reason to believe Kitayama will see the weekend at the Memorial is his play on approach, and on the greens. Kitayama sits 33rd on tour in greens in regulation, and 65th on tour in strokes gained putting. However, his Achilles heel this week will be his accuracy off the tee. Kitayama is hitting just over 53% of fairways this season, which won't be near good enough this week. With a decent amount of risk this week, the payoff could be massive with the cheap DFS price of Kitayama if he can find his way to the weekend.
