Kris Dunn 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoThe Bulls suddenly find themselves with an extremely crowded backcourt. Dunn will likely be the first guard off the bench this year with Tomas Satoransky and Zach LaVine as the starting guards. First round pick Coby White will also heavily factor into the equation.
Dunn’s greatest assets are his steals and his assists. He averaged 2.0 steals per game in 2017-18 and 1.5 steals per game last year and he averaged exactly 6.0 assists each of the last two years. However, he played about 30 minutes per game each of the last two years and there’s a strong chance, with Satoransky and White now in town, that Dunn could dip down to around 25 minutes per game or maybe less.
Dunn doesn’t offer much help in terms of scoring. He’s a career 41.7% shooter and he’s averaged about 12 points per game and 0.75 threes per game over the past two years. This year, assuming his playing time dips, he’ll likely be closer to 10 points per game.
In shallow leagues, Dunn doesn’t need to be drafted. In deeper leagues, he’s a fine late-round target as a source for steals.
