Kevin Alcantara Extends Hit Streak To Seven Games
8 months agoChicago Cubs outfield prospect Kevin Alcantara extended his current hit streak to seven games on Wednesday for Double-A Tennessee. After blasting two home runs on Tuesday, Alcantara followed that up with a 2-for-5 day at the plate on Wednesday with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. The 21-year-old began the year 0-for-26 over his first seven games but has since caught fire, going 15-for-31 (.483) with four home runs over his last seven games. Alcantara figures to see Chicago by 2025, but it will be hard to get there any sooner with a logjam of prospects in the outfield. Alexander Canario was recently brought up to the big league club, and on Wednesday the Cubs recalled Pete Crow-Armstrong after Cody Bellinger hit the IL. Owen Caissie is also waiting in the wings at Triple-A. Per MLB.com's scouting report though, Alcantara has 30-home run potential, so dynasty managers should be interested in his services.
