Kerry Carpenter Homers Twice In Tuesday's Return
4 months agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (back) did not miss a beat in his first game back from the injured list in Tuesday's 15-1 rout of the Mariners. Carpenter, who had been on the IL since late May with a lumbar spine stress fracture, went 3-for-5 with a single, a solo home run, a two-run HR, and two strikeouts. Carpenter drove a second-inning George Kirby fastball to the opposite field, launching it into the left-field bullpen. He got Kirby again in the fourth inning, this time crushing the ball into the right-field seats. The 26-year-old was on a hot streak before getting injured and now owns a .293/.349/.613 slash line with 10 HR, 23 runs scored, and 32 RBI in 168 plate appearances. He could be a fantasy asset down the stretch if he can pick up where he left off prior to his IL stint.
