Kenny Golladay 2021 Outlook: Take the Money and Run
4 years agoIt was clear to anyone with sight, and even me, that Kenny Golladay did not want to be in Detroit anymore. After basically opting out of the 2020 season, it was certain he was going to leave for the highest bidder. He now finds his way to the bright lights of New York and the Giants. Be careful what you wish for Kenny. While he is undoubtedly going to be the top dog on the team, a Matthew Stafford, or even Jared Goff target, is far different than a Daniel Jones target. While the Lions drafted Penei Sewell to bolster their line to protect their QB, the Giants are still counting on Will Hernandez and Anthony Thomas to improve. They are also hoping Jones learns how to hang onto the ball and not fumble away games. Jones has more fumbles in his career (29) than games played (27). Fantasy-wise, Golladay is going to be a stud. Sterling Shepard, Darrius Slayton, and the TE duo of Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph are not true competition for targets. Only Saquon Barkley might be. The last full year Golladay played was 2019. In that season, he averaged 18.3 y/c on 65 receptions for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns. This would be somewhat disappointing in 2021 as the clear-cut best player at the WR position for the Giants. Look for his receptions and yards to rise greatly, with a chance the touchdown numbers go up as well. He is a good pick as your fantasy WR1 in the fourth or fifth round, especially for those going RB early in drafts.
