Kayshon Boutte 2023 Outlook: Slim Chance For Production In Rookie Season
2 years agoNew England Patriots rookie wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was once viewed as a top prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft class, but after disappointing sophomore and junior campaigns at LSU and a poor showing at the NFL Combine, he fell to the sixth round. Boutte had a 308-yard receiving game as a freshman and finished with 735 yards, but he couldn't eclipse 538 yards in either season afterward. Ultimately, he has plenty of talent and upside, but it hasn't been unlocked and it's tough to envision him producing fantasy-relevant numbers as a rookie in 2023. Assuming Boutte makes the 53-man roster, he'll start the season solidly behind JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, DeVante Parker, Mike Gesicki, and Hunter Henry in the target pecking order, but there's no guarantee he'll play over Kendrick Bourne, either. New England has historically been slow to bring rookies along and given his late draft capital, there's not much to get excited about with Boutte until proven otherwise.
