Kadarius Toney 2023 Outlook: High Upside In First Full Year With Chiefs
2 years agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney is looking to capitalize on an expanded role in 2023. The former Giants first-round pick was traded to Kansas City early in his second pro season, and while injuries kept him from making much of an immediate impact with the Chiefs, there's reason to be optimistic about his outlook for this year and beyond. Through 19 games over two seasons in the NFL, Toney has just 55 catches, 591 yards, and two touchdowns. He has also made a legitimate impact on special teams. What this stat line doesn't show, however, is Toney's efficiency. The Florida product impressed with 0.82 fantasy points per route run and 2.87 fantasy points per target. Quite simply, when Toney was on the field and the ball was thrown his way, he produced big results. Now, he has an opportunity to build on this small sample size. With a full offseason to learn the Chiefs' system, a fantastic quarterback situation with Patrick Mahomes, and very little competition at the wide receiver position, Toney could emerge as Kansas City's top wide receiver. If he does, he'll be worth inserting into your lineups as a weekly WR3 or FLEX play (or better), making him somewhat of a steal at his current ADP of 86.
