Jusuf Nurkic Gets A Huge Double-Double Despite Loss
6 years agoPortland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic dominated the glass on Monday night against the Washington Wizards. He grabbed 18 rebounds and scored 22 points on an efficient 9-for-16 shooting. Nurkic also had two assists, two steals, and hit 4-of-4 free-throws, in 31 minutes of work. The Wizards were without starting center Dwight Howard (Buttock), so they had no answer for the big Bosnian center, as he controlled the paint all night, including grabbing nine offensive rebounds. Nurkic won't get easy matchups like this every night, but he’s looked good so far after a disappointing start to last season. He’s now at 16 points and 11 rebounds-per-game this season and should be a double-double threat on a nightly basis. Nurkic should get big minutes as he’ll be tasked to match-up with Nikola Vucevic when his squad takes on the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.
