Don't look now, but former consensus #1 prospect Jurickson Profar is heating up. The Texas Rangers gave their shortstop the cleanup spot against the Yankees, and the 25-year-old responded with his third dinger of 2018. Profar is a long way from achieving the lofty expectations once placed on him, but over the last two weeks he's shown more pop with a .196 ISO, a decrease in soft contact, more spread to all fields on his hit balls, a sharp reduction in strikeouts, and has produced extra bases on more than half of his hits. His average over that span of .239 leaves a lot to be desired, but a .238 BABIP suggests positive regression is coming. It's entirely possible that Profar goes on a tear, and he's already very likely to command the second base job when Elvis Andrus returns from injury. Things are finally looking up.--Sean Scampton
