Julio Urias Threw 'Very Encouraging' Bullpen On Monday
6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias (shoulder) threw a bullpen session in Arizona on Monday and manager Dave Roberts said it was "very encouraging." Urias was reportedly hitting 91 mph, which is lower than his career average fastball velocity of 93.3 mph, but it is still a good sign in the grand scheme of things. Urias underwent left shoulder capsule release surgery at the end of June of last season and had an initial prognosis of 12 to 14 months. Urias is not a lock to return in 2018, and even if he does return, he will be used sparingly. The Dodgers will not risk anything with Urias, who is still just 21 years old.
