JP Crawford Could Face Growing Pains In 2018
7 years agoOne of Philadelphia’s top prospects for a number of years, infielder JP Crawford finally got a taste of the major leagues last season, getting promoted in September and playing in 23 games. In his brief period of time with the Phillies, the 23-year-old underwhelmed, hitting .214 with 15 hits, six RBI and 16 walks. Prior to that, he did find some power while at Triple-A, hitting 15 home runs in 127 games, his most at any level. Looking ahead, Crawford is very likely to be the club’s starting shortstop, which means growing pains will follow him. His 25.3 K% during his brief stint is quite the negative trait and something he'll have to work on. Additionally, his power surge at Triple-A last season did not follow him to the majors, which will significantly hurt his fantasy ability. Crawford should not be considered in the draft, but should be monitored if his power returns.
