Josh Oliver Touchdown-Dependent Tight End In Week 1
3 months agoMinnesota Vikings tight end Josh Oliver is nominally the starter for the team in their Week 1 game against the New York Giants. The good news for the 27-year-old tight end is that he will likely get to start on the field in the position for the first month of the year as usual starter T.J. Hockenson (knee) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, missing the first four games of the year. The former third-round pick played two games last season when Hockenson was out and was out-snapped by fellow tight end Johnny Mundt in each game. In those two games, the tight ends received a combined 18 targets spread out between the two players, suggesting a bit of a split committee in the tight end room for the team. Oliver is in an unenviable position as both a low-floor and a low-ceiling play in Week 1.
