Josh Hader Is A Starter Excelling In Bullpen
7 years agoJosh Hader was a well-regarded starter throughout the minors. Hader was placed in the bullpen when he was brought up to the majors in 2017 and was very successful, holding opponents to a .154 average. Hader mixed a 94mph fastball with an 80mph slider to keep batters off balance, resulting in a 17% swinging strikes. He had an excellent 12.84 K/9, 16.41K/9 against left-handed batters. A couple areas of concern are Hader gave up too many walks (4.15 BB/9) and he was also susceptible to fly-balls (51.1%). Also, he allowed a hard hit rate of 34.9% against right-handers but did better against left-handers (25%). Currently, Hader is expected to start the 2018 season in the bullpen again. As such, Hader is not currently being drafted in most leagues. If you have starting pitchers that have great ratios but are weak in strikeouts, Hader is the perfect choice to balance your staff. Hader is a player to acquire in dynasty leagues. He will provide excellent strikeouts while in the bullpen and you will already own him once he is moved to the starting rotation.
