Josh Doctson 2018 Player Outlook: Third-Year Wideout Enters Make-Or-Break Season
6 years agoWashington Redskins wide receiver Josh Doctson has struggled to make an impact ever since the team made him its first-round draft choice in 2016. He appeared in just two games in his rookie year, catching two balls. In 2017, he played in all 16 games but only caught 35 of 78 targets for 502 yards and six touchdowns. That isn't the type of catch efficiency that will lead to consistent fantasy production. Doctson has a chance to be a threat in the red zone yet again in 2018 but it is hard to say whether he will bring much else to the table. There's a chance he improves his play with new quarterback Alex Smith in town but it is more likely that the ultra-conservative Smith doesn't mesh well with Doctson's skillset. Doctson is fine as a late-round flier but he's likely to frustrate as a fantasy option who doesn't help much in weeks that he doesn't find the end zone.
