Josh Bell Sets Season High With Three Doubles
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs scored and two RBI in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Braves. Bell doubled in each of his first two at-bats and then did so once again in the eighth with a shot to deep right/center, driving in two runs. While Bell has cooled off a little from his monstrous May, he is still swinging a strong bat with five hits (five doubles) in 18 at-bats this month. However, his 3:1 strikeout-to-walk rate and 1:6 BB/K ratio in June is something that is a little troublesome. The 26-year-old now leads the majors with 25 doubles and 56 RBI. With 45 extra-base hits, the fourth-year pro is just three short of topping his extra-base hit total last season.
