Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares will miss at least three weeks with an oblique strain, head coach Sheldon Keefe announced on Tuesday. According to Keefe, Tavares was hurt in Saturday's preseason game against Ottawa. There are two weeks to go until Toronto's season opener against Montreal, so the team is set to start the campaign without Tavares, who produced 27 goals and 49 assists in 79 games last season. With Pierre Engvall (foot) and Adam Gaudette (shoulder) also nursing injuries, Keefe might be forced to get very creative with his lines early on in the season.--Taavi Pailk
