John Means Named Opening Day Starter
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles starting pitcher John Means will be the team's Opening Day starter on July 24 against the Red Sox. Means was great in his rookie season, as he made the All-Star team and finished second in American League Rookie of the Year voting by going 12-11 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 121 strikeouts and 38 walks in 31 games (27 starts) over 155 innings pitched. The 27-year-old is the ace of Baltimore's pitching staff, but that isn't saying a whole lot. You shouldn't consider the left-hander anything more than starting pitching depth in deep mixed and AL-only leagues while having to face the tough American League East more often in 2020.
