Joey Votto Looking To Produce Elite Numbers For Fourth Straight Season
7 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is coming off yet another sublime, MVP-caliber season for his team. The veteran first baseman finished the 2017 campaign with a .320/.454/.578 slash line, 36 homers, 106 runs, 100 RBI, and five stolen bases. Votto's 1.032 OPS was first in the National League while he finished second in MVP voting behind only Giancarlo Stanton. Votto remains one of the most consistent batters in the league, having batted over .300 in all but two of his seasons in the major leagues. His run-producing opportunities may remain suppressed due to a weak supporting cast around him but he didn't let that same issue prevent him from reaching exactly 100 RBI this past season. If you are looking for a safe fantasy option at the top of fantasy drafts, Votto is exactly that as he enters his age 34 season.
