Joel Embiid 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid had a stop-start season in 2018-19, as he seems incapable of staying healthy for a full year, but he did end up averaging a career-high 33.7 minutes per game, which helped him fill the stat sheet on a regular basis. The Process ended up averaging a double-double with 27.5 points and 13.6 rebounds, adding 3.7 assists. It was a career year all around for the big guy who had to wait for two years for his NBA debut after being selected third in the 2014 draft. He was well worth the wait for the Sixers, though, as Embiid became one of seven players with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 200 blocks in his first 100 games last season. In 64 appearances, he had only six games in which he didn't record a double-double, and he even added a pair of triple-doubles. The Sixers have added another big in the mix in Al Horford over the summer, so Embiid's rebounding numbers might dip in 2019-20, but the former Celtics center should also ease his load, which should lead to the Cameroonian featuring in more games. Embiid is a fantasy monster when he's on the court, and the stage is set for him to have another great year in 2019-20.
