Joanne Calderwood, who entered the contest as the women's flyweight top contender, took Saturday's bout to stay active and wait for the champion to be ready. Well, things did not go as planned for Calderwood, and her title shot has now evaporated. Calderwood looked good in the first few minutes of striking, but after the bout went to the mat, it all fell apart for Calderwood, who got caught in an armbar to end her night. Calderwood was only able to land 26 significant strikes and was 1-for-1 on her takedowns, but it proved to be her downfall. Calderwood will rebound just fine, but her shot at UFC gold may be gone.--Matt Bricker
