Jimmie Johnson Sneaks Into Daytona 500 Field Despite Wreck
10 months agoDuring the Duel race on Thursday night, it looked as though Jimmie Johnson was going to miss the Daytona 500 race. You see, Johnson had to race his way in, as his No. 84 Toyota was not locked in to the show, and an early wreck hurt his chances of finishing ahead of the other "Open" driver, JJ Yeley. However, thanks to an exciting last lap pass, Jimmie Johnson will be racing in the 66th annual Daytona 500 on Monday afternoon. He will start from 23rd. Johnson is a two-time Daytona 500 Champion and the Toyotas looked to have great race speed during the Duel races on Thursday night. He's as high as a 60-to-1 longshot at some sportsbooks to win The Great American race.
