Jaren Jackson Jr. Ties Grizzlies Record With Eight Blocks
2 years agoMemphis Grizzlies forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr. had a historic night Monday, tying the franchise record for most blocks in a game by swatting away eight of Atlanta's shots. The Gasol brothers and Stromile Swift previously shared the record, but they have company now. Jackson Jr. also had a good offensive performance with 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting, and his line included seven rebounds and two assists as well. Memphis needed his services for only 24 minutes, as the game turned into a blowout. Jackson Jr. is a huge contributor defensively and has now racked up a total of 17 blocks across the last three games. He has averaged 3.6 swats a night for the season, which would comfortably put him on the top of the pile on the league's leaderboard if he had played enough games to qualify. The 23-year-old missed the start of the season because of a fractured foot and Monday's outing was only his 11th appearance of the campaign.
