Jared Young Takes A Seat Against Southpaw
1 year agoChicago Cubs rookie first baseman Jared Young is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against left-hander James Paxton and the visiting Boston Red Sox. In his absence, Trey Mancini will cover the cold corner and hit sixth in the batting order for the Cubbies. Young has played in only 17 major-league games in the last two seasons combined, and he's gone just 6-for-33 (.182) with a home run, two triples, five RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs scored in his first 11 games of this year. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting Canadian has only had two at-bats against left-handers in the big leagues as well, so Chicago will continue to have him avoid southpaws on Saturday.
