Jared Young Starting At First Base Again
10 months agoChicago Cubs rookie first baseman Jared Young is getting another start at first base and will bat eighth in the lineup on Friday against right-hander Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Guardians. It will be Young's second straight start at first base and third straight start overall. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter will only be playing in his ninth MLB game on Friday. In six contests this year, he's gone 2-for-6 with a homer, triple and two RBI for the Cubbies. In 52 games at Triple-A Iowa earlier this year, Young was slashing .326/.426/.605 with a 1.031 OPS, 13 homers, seven doubles, a triple, 45 RBI, four steals and 40 runs scored in 210 plate appearances. He appears to be in a platoon with Trey Mancini at first base for the time being.
