Jared Young Starting At First Base Again
1 year agoChicago Cubs rookie first baseman Jared Young is getting another start at first base and will bat eighth in the lineup on Friday against right-hander Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Guardians. It will be Young's second straight start at first base and third straight start overall. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter will only be playing in his ninth MLB game on Friday. In six contests this year, he's gone 2-for-6 with a homer, triple and two RBI for the Cubbies. In 52 games at Triple-A Iowa earlier this year, Young was slashing .326/.426/.605 with a 1.031 OPS, 13 homers, seven doubles, a triple, 45 RBI, four steals and 40 runs scored in 210 plate appearances. He appears to be in a platoon with Trey Mancini at first base for the time being.
