James Triantos Settling In At Triple-A
4 months agoChicago Cubs second baseman prospect James Triantos is starting to find a groove at Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs promoted the 21-year-old to Iowa last week, and after starting off 0-for-8 over his first two games, he's now hit safely in the last four games, going 6-for-17 (.353) with a pair of stolen bases over that stretch. Triantos had a nice 2023 that earned him an invite to the 2023 Arizona Fall League where he had a phenomenal showing, then posted a .300-7-40-63-38 line in 89 games at Double-A in 2024 which prompted the promotion to Triple-A. It's unclear how the former second-round pick fits into the Cubs' future plans with Nico Hoerner manning second base and Dansby Swanson signed at shortstop, but expect to see him in the majors at some point next season.
