New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom stopped 25 of 27 shots, leading the team to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in double overtime on Friday night. Markstrom let a 2-0 lead slip in the third period as Carolina scored two power-play goals. However, he was then forced into only three saves before Simon Nemec ended the contest with 2:36 played in the second overtime. Prior to Friday night, Markstrom had lost four consecutive starts since his last few outings in the regular season. He is now 1-2 in these playoffs, with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage. While the Devils have benefited from excellent goaltending by Markstrom, they need to generate more offense to keep pace with Carolina in the series.--Taavi Pailk
