Ignacio Alvarez Settling In At Double-A
6 months agoAtlanta Braves infield prospect Ignacio Alvarez has begun to find his footing at Double-A. The 21-year-old made his Double-A debut back in April and holds an overall .269/.378/.319 slash line with no home runs, 16 stolen bases, and a 25:35 BB:K. However, in his past 11 games, the sixth-ranked prospect in the Atlanta system is riding a .286 average and has posted three multi-hit performances. Alvarez spent the entirety of last summer with High-A and posted a strong .284/.395/.391 line. While he has never showcased elite power, the young infielder possesses strong contact skills and speed, which he has showcased at every level of the minor leagues. He should be expected to remain in Double-A for the remainder of the season, which sets him up to potentially make his major-league debut next summer.
