Ian Desmond Homers In Failed Comeback Attempt
6 years agoThe Colorado Rockies were down in the ninth inning of Tuesday's ballgame, but a two-run blast by outfielder Ian Desmond brought them within one run. No one was able to capitalize any further, though, and the comeback petered out after Desmond. Desmond is trying to find a happy medium between previous iterations of himself. Last year, 24 percent of balls he put into the air went out of the park, but he hit nearly three times as many balls on the ground as into the air. This year, he's getting under the ball at a pace unmatched in his entire career, but he's only driving 11 percent of those into the seats. It's not clear yet if he'll be able to mesh those two things at 33 years of age, but if he can, he could have one more good year in the tank.
