Hunter Dozier Wearing Out Welcome
6 years agoThe Kansas City Royals promoted first baseman/third baseman Hunter Dozier to take over for Lucas Duda while he was on the disabled list, but as the rebuild became clearer, they've hung on to the rookie and given him lots of at-bats so they can see what the future holds. Apparently, the future holds a terrible batting average. Dozier is hitting just .208 since his call-up, and he's hitting a horrific .159 over the last 30 days. It's not for lack of regular at-bats either, as he's logged 88 plate appearances in that time. Instead of improving, Dozier seems to be struggling to adjust as he's been even worse of late, going 3-for-29 in his last 10 games. The team seems committed to giving him plenty of time to learn, but the 26-year-old is looking completely overmatched for now.
