The Chicago White Sox have reached an agreement with their first-round pick, pitcher Hagen Smith. The fifth overall pick in the 2024 draft has agreed to an $8 million bonus, which just slightly over the slot value suggested of $7,736,700. Signing the contract makes Smith the highest paid left-hander in draft history. Smith, 20, was dominant this past season for the University of Arkansas, where he went 9-2 with a 2.04 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 84 innings. Fresh out of college, Smith could rise quickly through the White Sox system as a potential future ace. It is unknown at the current time where the Sox will have Smith begin his professional career, but his potential makes him worth watching in dynasty leagues.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBallerRead More News
