Josh Lindblom 2020 Outlook: From Korea to Your Fantasy Roster
5 years agoJosh Lindblom was an unknown commodity, not even on the fantasy radar just a couple months ago. But, he signed a three year deal with the Brewers in December, which will bring him at least $9 million and upwards of $18 million. That is not chump change, and it is why Lindblom is expected to hold a rotation spot for the Brew Crew. Lindblom flamed out in his first MLB stint, before heading to Korea and revamping his repertoire, adding a four-seam fastball and slider, according to reports. He still sits low-90s, but all reports rave about his spin rate, something we have seen with other pitchers who have had a similar path. Lindblom pitched to a 2.88 and 2.50 ERA his last two seasons while averaging 8.4 and 8.7 K/9 in Korea. Currently, Steamer projects him for a 4.62 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, 10 wins and 174 strikeouts in 178 innings. However, take those with a grain of salt, as Lindblom is a total unknown right now. He has an ADP of 427.13 right now, meaning that he is nothing more than a late-round flier. Those projections would make him fringey at best, but he has higher upside just like Miles Mikolas and Merrill Kelly, two pitchers who made the jump and had more success than projected.
