Franklin Perez Still Not Throwing

Detroit Tigers starting pitching prospect Franklin Perez (shoulder) still hasn't been able to throw a baseball after two-plus years of shoulder issues. The 22-year-old that was the key piece in the trade that sent Justin Verlander to Houston in 2017 has pitched in nine games in his two seasons with Detroit (27 innings). He hasn't thrown off a mound since going on the injured list in June. The good news is he hasn't had any surgeries and doesn't have any structural damage, but Perez still doesn't have a timetable for when he might throw again. Perez could easily be a candidate for Detroit's starting rotation if he was healthy, and he's ranked No. 6 among the team's prospects. Because it'll be a slow climb for him when he gets healthy, you can forget about stashing Perez for now in dynasty leagues.
