Filip Gustavsson Stands Tall In Victory Over Carolina
Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced en route to defeating the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday evening. The Wild were heavily outshot in this contest, but Gustavsson was able to lead the way. His lone blemish came in the third period when Sebastian Aho beat him on a wrist shot. This was also a much-needed bounce-back for Gustavsson, as he allowed five goals in his previous start on February 1. Before this poor outing, Gustavsson carried a two-game win streak where he stopped 50 of the 53 shots he faced. Overall, the 26-year-old holds a 21-11-3 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .915 percent SV. He has posted three shutouts. He will look to finish strong before the international break when the Wild host the New York Islanders on Saturday evening.

Matt Duchene Expected to Skate Wednesday
Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (undisclosed) is expected to skate on Wednesday. The two-time All-Star has been granted maintenance days at the start of training camp as a precaution. Dallas had Duchene in the lineup only 57 times last season and is being cautious with his health. Duchene played well when available, averaging nearly 0.8 points. Stars Sign Sam Steel to Four-Year Extension
Dallas Stars forward Sam Steel has landed a contract extension ahead of the new season. He will be on a four-year, $14.8 million contract heading into the 2027-28 campaign. Steel earned a significant raise from his current deal, which pays him $2.1 million annually. While his numbers don't jump out, Steel has been a consistent contributor for the Stars, bagging a career-high 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 73 contests last season.
