The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired center Evgeny Kuznetsov from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. The Capitals are also retaining 50% of Kuznetsov's $7.8 million cap hit. It's been a difficult season for the Russian both on and off the ice as Kuznetsov has recorded just six goals and 17 points across 43 games for an underperforming Capitals offense. Kuznetsov also entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. After being cleared to return, he was put on waivers and was assigned to the AHL after he cleared. The 31-year-old recorded 78 points in 79 games as recently as the 2021-2022 season as he could be a valuable addition for the 'Canes if he can return to form.--Brenton KempRead More News
