Eury Perez Trying New Curveball Grip
10 months agoMiami Marlins pitcher Eury Perez is trying out a new curveball grip that he and pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre have come up with in spring training. Perez noted the curveball looks good in bullpen sessions, but he needs to trust it more. The towering 6-foot-8 righty made his big-league debut at just 20 years of age in the 2023 season and worked to a 3.15 ERA across 19 starts, but the club limited his workload after throwing just 77 innings in the minors in the 2022 season. Perez should be given a much longer leash in the 2024 season, especially with ace Sandy Alcantara (elbow) out for the season due to Tommy John surgery. He is certainly worth an investment on draft day and is a dynasty league gem moving forward.
