Eugenio Suarez 2024 Player Outlook: Drop In Counting Stats Expected
9 months agoArizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez put forth a very interesting season in 2023, his final one with the Seattle Mariners prior to an offseason deal to the desert. In 2022, the 32-year-old hit .236 with 31 home runs and 87 RBI. Last season, he fell to 22 home runs but drove in 97 runs while hitting only .232. Similar average, far less homers, more RBI. Go figure. At the same time, a drop in his counting stats is likely with the D-backs in 2024. The floor is solid, but ATC projects similar power with 23 home runs but a drop to 79 RBI alongside an identical .232 average. Discouraging is a notable increase in strikeouts over the last several seasons and Chase Field in Arizona has been the sixth-hardest home run venue for right-handed hitters over the last three seasons, as per Statcast. He is fair value with a 276.84 ADP considering the names behind him at the third-base position but expect some regression in the season ahead.
