Elvis Andrus Won't Opt Out Of Deal

Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus won't opt out of the $43 million and three years left on his current deal. The 31-year-old is making the right decision after hitting .275/.313/.393 with 12 home runs, 72 RBI and 31 stolen bases in 147 games for Texas in 2019. It was Andrus' first time going over 30 steals since 2011, but his power numbers were again down after slugging a career-high 20 round-trippers in 2017. Injuries will also become an issue as the shortstop ages on the wrong side of 30. Don't expect Andrus to return to the 20-homer mark again, so a decent batting average and some speed is what you can bank on with him moving forward.
