Elly De La Cruz Homers in Third Straight Game
Elly De La Cruz clubbed his 15th home run of the year Saturday as the team rolled to an 11-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. De La Cruz opened the scoring with a 402-foot solo shot off right-hander Jack Flaherty in the top of the fourth inning. He finished the day 1-for-4 with a walk and an additional run scored. The 23-year-old star has now gone deep in three straight games and is hitting a red-hot .350 (14-for-40) in 11 games this month. Along with his high HR total, De La Cruz is slashing .267/.348/.485 with 47 RBI, 20 steals, and 54 runs scored over 305 plate appearances. The switch-hitter has notched the lion's share of his production against righties, and he'll face another RHP in the Tigers' Sawyer Gipson-Long on Sunday.
