Elijah Mitchell 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Does Mitchell Carry Any Fantasy Value in 2025?
Elijah Mitchell since he ran for 963 rushing yards in 11 games as a rookie in 2021. Mitchell has missed time due to injury in each of his four NFL seasons and missed the entire 2024 season recovering from a hamstring injury. The San Francisco 49ers opted not to re-sign him, and Mitchell would sign a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. He now gets a fresh start and hopes to carve out a role in Kansas City's offense. The team still has last year's starters, Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, under contract. Rookie Brashard Smith, who the team is reportedly quite bullish on, also remains in the mix. Pacheco figures to be the team's lead back to begin the year, but Mitchell may emerge as the team's RB2. He'll only have to beat out a soon-to-be 30-year-old Hunt and a seventh-round pick in Smith, so there's a world where Mitchell secures RB2 duties. Whether Mitchell can stay healthy long enough to potentially capitalize is anybody's guess. Gamers should not prioritize Mitchell as a late-round handcuff as there's a chance he's not even on the team's final roster. However, if we get word that Mitchell is the team's RB2, he would become a highly intriguing late-round pick.
