Ed Dickson 2018 Outlook: The Old Man and the Seahawks
6 years agoWith the loss of Jimmy Graham to free agency, the Seahawks needed to bring in a solid pass-catching tight end to use in the red zone. Instead, they signed Ed Dickson, who in 16 games last year, many of them in replacement of Greg Olsen, totaled 30 receptions for 437 yards and one touchdown. He is most likely also slated to be the backup to Nick Vannett, who will have the first shot at the starter's role in an explosive offense for sure, but whom, outside the red zone is not known for using the tight end much. Dickson recently landed on the IR with a groin injury and may not even be ready to play when the season begins. With all these factors being taken in to account and the impression the Seahawks are trying to run the ball more often this season, Ed Dickson is not a tight end worth drafting even in the deepest of leagues.
